Research the person you have been assigned. Begin with the materials copied from Encyclopedia of World Biography and Current Biography.
For current people, find a recent newspaper or magazine article to bring your research up to date.
Use the World Almanac or your textbook to find atleast 3 important world events for each decade your person was living. Choose events that have had an affect on your person, but were not caused by your person.(i.e. World War II, Depression, Pres. Kennedy assassinated) Be prepared to explain why you choose these particular events.
Look for quotes or other clues to your person's opinion of atleast 2 of these issues: Civil Rights, Women's Rights, Environment, Unions, etc.
Day 2-5 - Computer Lab & Library Reference Area
Begin placing your research into your hypercard timeline. Try to find information that will make your presentation informative and interesting to your classmates. Why was your person important?
You should have the following for most decades your person was alive:
(it may be difficult to find much information about your person's early years)
p 3 important World Events for the decade. (Type into World Events field, Use hypertext feature to explain event details and the possible affect on your person.. Click on lock icon to lock text; click on word you wish to explain futher; type additional explanation.)
p Notes about your person's life in that decade (Do not put you entire report in one decade) (Type into Notes field - detailed information about your person life in each decade; hypertext feature also works in this field.)
p Locations of important events in your person's life indicated by a button. (Choose New Button w/Icon from the Map menu, select an graphic (icon) to represent the event. You can type notes about the event by clicking on the icon. To move the button icon, hold down the mouse button and drag.)
p Atleast one picture of that person or an event in his/her life during that decade (Scan the picture. Then choose Add new card for this Map.. from the Map menu. Choose Get Picture from the Utility Menu to select a picture you have already scanned. Choose New Field from the Utility menu to create a text area (field) you can type a caption into....choose Use Buttons and Edit Text from the Utility menu and the click in the field to begin typing)
For the entire report....
p Include your sources of information in the Bibliography. You should have atleast 3 sources, for current biographies one source should be a magazine or newspaper article.
p Include quotes or other first hand sources to illustrate your person's opinion of 2 important 20th Century issues.
p For extra credit, find a short (30 seconds or less) segment of a videotape or audio recording that illustrates something important about your person and include that in your stack.
Day 10
Complete worksheet comparing and evaluating atleast 4 other classmates hypercard stacks.
Alternative accessment - present your stack to the class using the LCD projection panel.
Due Day 12
p Completed worksheets for atleast 4 other people.
p Timeline Printout with the content of your report, choose Print Report from the File menu and print the Timeline report.
